Origin: Northern Hemisphere from all habitats but deserts and arctic

Flowers
: star, bowl, trumpet, or turks cap shape. Many fragrant. All colors but blue.

Foliage: alternate, scattered, or whorled along stem.

Culture
: sun to partial shade. Soil conditions vary with species. American lilies include L. philadelphicum and L. pardalnum. The variable L. henryi with orange and white types is a parent for many cultivars.
